About Amy Beabout: The real live tooth fairy

AmyLou Designs, Inc. was created by Amy Beabout, former teacher and mother of 4. Amy was inspired to make tooth shaped pillows during long hours sitting in a hospital with one of her sons, who has VATER syndrome. Clayton, who is nine-years-old, was born with missing ribs and travels to San Antonio, Texas twice a year for surgery. When a nurse mentioned a desire to purchase a tooth fairy pillow, Beabout realized she had the beginnings of an unusual business that could also benefit the Titanium Rib Foundation, which she began in 2005.

Amy began dressing up as the tooth fairy when son Clayton asked her to come to school as the tooth fairy for Halloween one year. Amy does professional storytelling so he wanted her to dress up in costume. Now children all around Wichita believe her to be the real live tooth fairy or her helper. Children generally approach her with mouths open wide to display a lost tooth and then thank her for the treat that was left.

Amy's only daughter Emma likes to help Mom pick out the perfect pocket to go on each newly designed handmade tooth pillow.

Amy's love of sewing and creating new things has also led to the development of reversible purses. Each handmade handbag comes with pockets for cell phones, PDA's, writing utensils and more.
