Tooth Fairy In Kansas?

(WICHITA, KS- July 24, 2006) - Millions of children each year loose their teeth. Amy Beabout, of AmyLou Designs also known as the "Tooth Fairy Lady," has created a product to enhance this experience. In fact Beabout is often asked, "Are you really the tooth fairy?" by fascinated children who have been recipients of her pillows. Children have come up to her in the grocery store to ask, "what do you do with all those teeth" or "are you the real tooth fairy or just a helper." Super heroes have an easier time hiding their identity than she does.

A stay-at-home mom of four, Beabout was inspired to make tooth shaped pillows during long hours sitting in a hospital with one of her sons, who has VAECTRL syndrome. Clayton who is nine-years old was born with missing ribs and travels to San Antonio, TX twice a year for surgery. When a nurse mentioned a desire to purchase a tooth fairy pillow, Beabout realized she had the beginnings of an unusual business that could also benefit the Titanium Rib Foundation, which she began in 2005.

Beabout has over 30-plus tooth fairy pillow designs with each one receiving a book that features a letter to the tooth fairy, a diagram and chart of upper and lower teeth for coloring in and recording as they're lost. Amy's design was created with the intent of preserving the memories shared by parent and child. "Amy has brought the fun, mystery and magic of losing your teeth back to life," says Nancy Ruesser, repeat customer. Manufacturing of each pillow is hand-made primarily by Beabout with assistance from other moms and grandmas. A percentage of all tooth fairy pillow sales are given to the Titanium Rib Foundation.

Finally, she shares the story of the Tooth Fairy, which was an established part of our American folklore during the early part of the 1900s. The tooth fairy comes when a child has lost a tooth. The child is to leave the tooth under his/her pillow, so that the tooth fairy can take it during her visit in the middle of the night. Once she has taken the tooth, she leaves monetary reimbursement under the pillow, anything from ten cents to a dollar. The teeth are then taken to her tower, and used for her purposes.
